Yellow and White Damask Cake

This was my first time trying to do the damask pattern on a cake. It was so much fun and I'm pleased with the design. The cake is an 8x8 inch square chocolate cake with raspberry filling from scratch. The cake is covered with buttercream and the damask pattern is also buttercream.

Lace Square Cake

This is a cake dummy. I used this cake in my demo audition tape for TLC's Cake Boss. I showed how to add the lace and color with shimmer dust. The cake is covered with fondant and I added a sugar peony that I had left over from the wedding cake. The cake stand is from the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy's.

50th Anniversarry Cake

This cake was the best one I have ever made! It was so adorable I didn't want to part with it!!!! I made this cake for one of our closest friends. Her pastor and his wife were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! I really enjoy the end result of the sugar flower making process. It can be difficult especially since I'm trying to learn from videos. This cake was three tiered lemon cake with raspberry filling, with now my all time favorite butter vanilla buttercream from Sharon Zambito from SugarEdProductions. I have almost all of her videos, she is amazing and I have learned so much from her.

The cake has 6 sugar roses that I hand painted gold. I also hand painted the leaves and the 50 for the topper. The gold paint I purchased at Global Sugar Art. I also made sugar pearls strings for the border at the bottom of each tier. The pearls were made from a pearl mold dusted with Wilton Gold Shimmer. The leaves on the cake have the leaf patter which was created with a leaf veiner that I purchased at California Cakes in Redlands California. They have such a great shop!

I hope you enjoy the cake as much as I do!

Peony Cake Details

This is one of my favorite cakes ever. It took me forever to complete but it was so worth it. I missed the wedding since I was busy making the cake. The bride loved the cake on so did the guest which is all that matters. The middle cake is a three tiered white cake filled with cheesecake strawberry mousse filling. The two sides are filled with peach mousse filling.

The flowers took the most time to make but also gave me the most sense of accomplishment. I used a video by Nicholas Lodge to learn how to make the flowers. I bought most of my supplies for the flowers at Global SugarArt online merchant including the DVD for the flowers.

The cake also had some  lace embellishments made out of gumpaste and fondant mixture. The lace mold were purchased at Elegant Lace Impressions. They were worth the investment. They came out beautiful. The three tiered cake has a scalloped lace on all three tiers and on the top it has a lace medallion as do the two side cakes.

Lace and Peony Wedding Cake

Sneak peek at the wedding cake I am making for a friend and church. She had no idea what she wanted so it allowed me to experiment. I will post more pics on a later post and will give details on tools and techniques.
