{Pink and Yellow} Giraffe Baby Shower

This pink and yellow giraffe baby shower was designed for my friend Veronica. This was for her 2nd baby, baby Abigail. Her shower was in November and it was cold, so we opted for an indoor shower. We set up several tables and decorated them with carnation milk glass vase centerpieces.

Pink, yellow, and white carnations filled the milk glasses. We used 6 dozen carnations. Ikea frames also decorated the tables. The inserts in the Ikea frames where created in Photoshop and matched the invitation.

We had several games that required writing so we used pink golf pencils and added a giraffe pattern flag stickers. We also handed out giraffe buttons that we ordered from Etsy. I designed them in Photoshop.

For the dessert table we had a small cake flanked by pink, yellow, and brown candy and desserts.

The dessert table consisted of chocolate covered pretzels, sugar cookies with giraffe print, cupcakes, pink gumballs, and some Mexican candy and cookies.

As favors we also gave out the giraffe cookies and set them at each place setting.

The cake with a fondant giraffe decal.

Giraffe balloon clusters added to the giraffe theme.

{Mustache & Bow Ties} Little Man Cake

My friend Stephanie was having her first baby. I was thrilled when she commissioned one of my cakes :) Her Little Man theme included bow ties and mustaches. Although the cake only focused on the bow ties. She also wanted to incorporate the banner with baby Nehemiah's name and along the top tier.

Close up of the bunting. I used this tutorial to make the patterns for the fondant triangles and for the bow ties. It made all the difference in the cake to go the extra step instead of laying the dots and stripes on top of the triangles. Its a much cleaner look.

The bow ties and onesies go all around the cake. The letters were cut from fondant using the Curlz tappit letter cuters. A onesie with a bow tie frames the front nicely.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a looksy :) These boy party ideas were also featured on Spaceships and Laser Beams.

Favorite Things Cake

My sister Nadine OBVI :) had a birthday! Her request: Huge, Girly, My Favorite Things!! I could not resist going all out and this cake was born. By far the largest cake I have EVER made. It had its challenges but learned so much about stacking and support. Let me break down to you my sissys favorite things!!

From the top SHOES and Chanel...she loves shoes and high ones. All girls want is a pair of Loubis right..so That was the crown jewel litterally. That shoe took more than 400 edible pearls (I purchased all pearls on the cake on Etsy except the pink ones on the beauty mask). I tore apart one of my shoes to get the template (not Loubis of course). You can find the template here on Cakecentral or on my Scribd account. I didn't really incorporate the iconic C's but definitely the color shceme is reminiscent of Chanel.

The second tier is dedicated to CANDY. My sister would rather eat candy than food. So this tier has two swirl fondant lollipops and pink and silver circles which remind me of cotton candy and they look pretty.

The Tiffany Blue tier has a diamond pattern accented with black pearls. On this tier we have the love of Tiffany of course but also sports and music. The Lakers are her favorite basketball team and she likes boxing as well so I sculpted pink boxing gloves and cut out a black music note. The Lakers' logo is an edible image (all edible images were purchased on Etsy) that I glued to a fondant heart and accented the heart with a string of purple pearls.

Can you tell she has a cheetah obsession. Everything cheetah she wants. So I made her a tier with a cheetah print. I used powder colors with vodka and painted the pattern after I used Wilton Color Mist in Gold to the entire tier as well as the cosmetic bag and the N-A-D-I-N-E letters.

More than candy and cheetah she loves her sleep so I included a beauty mask. I used a food marker to write "beauty sleep" and pink edible pearls as an accent.

Last bur certainly not least is the makeup and shopping tier. She always has her phone so I recreated her exact phone and used an edible image of her actual FB page feed. I also used an edible image for the Starbucks cup because who doesn't like their Starbucks when they shop. She shops the most at Victoria's Secret, Forever 21, and the MAC counter so it was a no brainer to include those items. The Forever 21 gift cards also had edible images.

The makeup bag with the MAC Cosmetics is ridiculously adorbs!!! My niece wanted to put on the makeup because she thought they were real, yes that's only the opinion of a 4 year old but a 4 year old who has opinions like a teenager!! I sculpted a lipstick, face brush, eye shadows, and a face powder.

The entire cake is edible and when she saw it she was excited that its exactly what she envisioned or should I say what she sketched for me!! Yup that's how she rolls! Happy Birthday Sister! Love you!

{Pink & Black} Boudoir Lingerie Bridal Shower

I wanted to create the perfect event for my sister's bridal shower. My sister's and I decided on a lingerie shower. Our color palette was pink and black and a touch of white. We invited about 30 of our closest friends to help us celebrate the milestone. The guests were advised to just bring lingerie as gifts to fit the theme. The theme was very Victoria's Secret Boudoir and every detail reflects the theme.

Tablescape: The tables had a table runner of flowers. My sister and I created the floral arrangements and located them all the way down the center of the table. We had three tall centerpieces and a bunch of smaller ones. We also had votive candles wrapped in a vellum lace wrap. Each place setting had a black charger, pink satin napkin, black water goblet, and their silverware. We also placed the favors on the side of each setting. The tables were under a beautiful tent that we draped in a pink fabric. We also hung three black chandeliers from the tent. All around the party space we set up 8x10’s and 5x7’s of some awesome lingerie boudoir shots I took of my sister :)

Dessert table: I made the cake and most of the desserts. The cake was a three tiered cake with ruffles and a scalloped pattern and ruffle flowers. The backdrop of the dessert table had a chandelier vinyl   decal on a pink piece of lightweight wood painted pink. I also included pink gumballs, swirly pops, pink cotton candy, corset and panty shaped sugar cookies. I also had two chocolate fountains with custom colored pink chocolate. For dipping, I had rice crispy treats, marshmallows, cream puffs, pretzels, strawberries, and other goodies.

Drink Table: I set up a little bar. The bar was a steal from a yard sale for just $5 dollars. We hung 3 metal frames with the words Bombshell, Very Sexy, and Sexy Little Things. I also accessorized it with some flowers and some pink candles. We set up two drink dispensers that had the cocktails for the evening. Some cute tumblers with some cute parasols that we made outfitted the drinks perfectly. Mini water bottles with pink and black lace labels were also displayed.  I also had some bottles of Orange Juice, Punch, and Sangria were also available.

Favors: The favors were wrapped in a beautiful black wrapping paper with a satin bow and placed at everyone's place setting. Inside the box were little lingerie care kits that included a lingerie wash bag and lingerie detergent. I also included some lingerie care instructions.

Gift Table: I set up a black table with a comfy chair where my sister could sit and open gifts comfortably. The chair was a great find as well. I painted it black and upholstered the cushion with some pink fabric.

Games/Prizes: I boxed up all the prizes in pink wrapping paper and black satin ribbon. Prizes included Victoria’s Secret lotions, lip gloss and mints, Guess bracelets, Elf cosmetics, and other girly items. We also had custom made scrubs and edible chocolate body paint. For the Pictionary game I used an Ikea frame and made it into a white board. Other games included a word search, scramble game, bingo, and Jeopardy {games were created in PhotoShop}.  For the writing games I had black pencils personalized with pink letters.

Photobooth: The backdrop was made with A LOT of lace and ribbon. I also included some props like the Ikea frame, boas, chalkboards, and silly face parts.

Invitations: The invitation really set the mood for the event. I created in PhotoShop and then sent it to a printer. It was then placed in a black box with pink and black pearls. I also wrapped the box with pink lace and black ribbon. It was very glamorous and everyone loved it. (pictures are not that great for these because my computer crashed *tear*)
Food: Cooked by Me :) Lasagna and Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo. We also had garlic bread and a Cesar salad.
I had so much fun putting this together. I love planning a party just as much as I love to make the cakes and desserts for them!! Hope you enjoyed!

{Pink and Gold} Elegant Royal Gilded Bird Cage Baby Shower

My sister had my niece almost a year ago and I still have not shared with you all this goodness! I also hadn't mentioned that her shower was featured on the Baby Lifestyles Blog. So excited to have my first feature. Back when they featured it they only mentioned my name not my business but that is ok, I was just elated to have one of my cakes on another blog :)

My sister wanted something super girly and sophisticated, so pink and gold it is. Since the shower would be outdoor and in spring we incorporated bird cages filled with lush pink blooms and other arrangements in milk glass. My poor momma would wake up early to seek out the milk glass at yard sales and thrift shops. We ended up with so much we did not use them all.

Like all of our parties everything is DIY!! I mean EVERYTHING! Its a lot of work but so rewarding. The flower arrangements were done by my mom, my sisters, and I. They were a challenge but  they are amazing, at least to us lol.

For favors we used pink and gold pearl gumballs in a tube and finished them off with a pink ribbon and Thank You note card. We placed them at each place setting.

My sister Yanavith wanted to have a pictures of her bump as part of the decorations so I put on my photographer hat and viola! We spread her pictures around the tables and it added a nice personal touch.

I also incorporated one of the pictures into the invitation which I created in Photoshop and printed at Mpix. They are the Luxe Ornate Invitations on pearl paper. They were gorgeous!

This is one of my favorite cakes I have made. The fondant tiara was definitely the show stopping detail of the cake. The swags were made using different size fondant pearls that I dusted gold. This cake had more than 200 of those suckers it was a late night for sure. If you are wondering why would she put a white ribbon on this cake...well what had happened was :) ... the bow that was supposed to be there broke and I had no time to repair it. I guess that is why they say to make an extra (I usually do but since this cake was for myself I just didnt want to). My sister Nadine and I made those tiny tiaras for the cupcakes we made 48 of them. This was more time consuming than the large one. I also made the cakepops, and hand painted that G on the sugar cookies. Its all in the details.

The infamous Ikea Mirror was painted in gold. These frames are just so fabulous. We framed the verse: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I love this little detail. We also used huge 36" pink balloons and the letter G gold balloon.

My sister loved her shower I am so happy to be able to be given the honor to host these memorable events for my family. I know this blog is about my cakes and desserts but I love to share with you the whole picture of what my cakes were part of. I wont get to do this for all my cakes just the ones I create for friends and family. Thanks for reading! XOXO
